Article. 27 GeoIA 1 The Swiss Geological Survey shall provide geological data and information for the use of the Federal Administration and interested third parties. 2 This task includes in particular: (...) b the provision of geological data of national interest; Article 5 GeoSO The Swiss Geological Survey shall provide the following geological data and information of national interest: a. official data with a view to sustainable use of the geological substructure and the spatial development of Switzerland; b. bodies and types of groundwater; c. geological conditions of sites and environs of existing and planned national infrastructure (e.g. mainline rail links, trunk roads, underground cables, oil and gas pipelines, large electric power stations, conurbations); d. presence and types of rock formation suitable for the storage of substances and waste; e. deposits of mineral raw materials (especially sand, gravel, ore, oil and natural gas); f. official data on geothermal energy generation; g. official data for determining the hazards and risks to which people, property, the environment and the country are exposed from geological processes or the use of the geological substructure.

Conditions for accessing data

In accordance with Art. 20 to 33 of the GeoIO (with reference to Art. 13 GeoSO). The conditions of access depend on the level of access specified in Art. 13 para. 2 GeoSO. In principle, access is guaranteed for category A geodata, access is possible but not guaranteed for category B geodata, and no access is guaranteed for category C geodata. Basic geodata may only be reproduced with an indication of the source (Art. 30 GeoIO). The obligations applicable to users are also valid for third parties to which basic geodata is transmitted (Art. 31 GeoIO).
